Not only has Gård Vintners opened a third tasting room, this new Walla Walla spot comes with a small-bites menu worthy of the exceptional quality that winemaker, Aryn Morell, brings to the bottle.

Having just tasted at the Woodinville location last month, I speak from personal experience that the Gård lineup is an exciting one. Their 2014 Riesling has more than a hint of petrol, deemed off putting to those who prefer a fruitier aroma but a sought-after quality in some of the most long-aging rieslings (I loved it!); lots of fresh pear in their 2014 Pinot Gris; fresh strawberry all the way in their 2016 Rosé; and the leather, smoke and gamey notes in their 2013 Malbec make it a sure-fire pleaser for meat eaters that like a hearty wine to go with their protein.

Gård Vintners, a winery dedicated to crafting world-class wines from its estate vineyard on the Royal Slope of the Columbia Valley, has announced the opening of its third tasting room, located at 43 E. Main St. in downtown Walla Walla. The estate winery, which is family owned and operated currently produces 6,000 cases of wine a year in Walla Walla with winemaker Aryn Morell and M&L Production.

“We’re excited to be part of the fabric of downtown Walla Walla,” said Josh Lawrence, co-owner of Gård Vintners. “It’s a premier wine destination, and we’ve had it on our radar for quite some time. As we continue to grow our portfolio of wines and expand distribution, a tasting room in Walla Walla allows us to have a footprint in an essential area of the state for winegrowing, winemaking and of course, wine tasting.”

The Walla Walla tasting room is managed by former Fat Duck innkeeper and owner Cynthia Koby, who offers her years of food and wine expertise to tasting room guests in addition to her knowledge of the Walla Walla community.

The tasting room will launch a small-bites menu created by Chef Rich Koby to pair with Gård’s tasting list. Classically trained at the California Culinary Academy, Koby is an award-winning chef, having won the DiRoNa Silver Spoon award among others. He focuses on simplicity and fresh Northwest ingredients.

Walla Walla tasting room’s seasonal hours are currently Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to check the website for tasting room hours as they will change seasonally. Guests are invited to celebrate the grand opening on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with live music by Robert Gomez, light bites and enjoy new wine releases.

Gård Vintners has select distribution across the country, a celebrated wine club and additional tasting rooms in Woodinville and Ellensburg.Gard Vintners
